Yes, according to Leon M. Lederman Science Education Center. My experience is that woodchucks can be mean little devils. We have a huge wood pile in our back yard, which is like having a sign that says "Woodchuck Motel" and we've had our problems with Woodchucks. One got locked in our shop for two days and tore half the styrofoam insulation off the walls and scattered the recyling--pop cans and cardboard--everywhere. What a mess!
Groundhogs hibernate October through February. Groundhog day is Monday. Will he see his shadow? I don't think Punxsutawney Phil's Minnesota relatives will even be awake. The best thing about February 2nd for me is watching my favorite Bill Murray movie--"Groundhog Day."

Fresh Start
This is the first post of a new blog that will feature bits of this and that in the Bemidji area. Topics will include discussions about the social and built environment and about economics and government in Bemidji. My goal is to give citizens another perspective about what is happening in our city and ideas on how civic participation can improve our community. As I share my thoughts on local happenings, I hope that you will add to the discussion with your comments.
